For kids aged 11 - 17
Welcome to Hands & Heart Kids Art! A caring, inclusive, and inspiring environment for all children to feel creatively confident. H&H is a space of exploration and curiosity without judgment where children learn new creative skills, build resilience, and connect with their peers. We run our after-school art program during the school term and then throw in a few fun and exciting additions over the school holidays!
We are pretty excited to share what we have in store for our Janurary School Holiday Program! We have split the workshops up into age groups, but we were never very good at colouring in the lines, so there is plenty of wiggle room when it comes to the suggested ages. Send us a message if you have any questions about this.
Now for the art!! - Art Journaling For Teens
Over 2.5 hours students will get to explore the concept of Art Journaling. This isn’t like the Art Journal you have to submit in school - This is a safe and private space for creative exploration and self expression, a positive tool for mental health and wellbeing that can be used over a person's lifetime.
Just a few benefits of using a creative journal:
-Improved emotional awareness
-Managing academic stress
-Developing a sense of identity
-Navigating social challenges
-Expressing emotion
Children will grow and develop not only in creativity but personal and social confidence too, they will have fun with their peers in a friendly encouraging environment while creating a variety of process-based art and craft projects.
Values that are actively encouraged:
Encouraging, and friendly behavior
Trying new and challenging things
Celebrating our authentic selves and each other
Patience, tolerance, and acceptance
Practising creative courage
In teaching both children and adults, I encourage the mindset and perspective that art cannot be good or bad, it just is. And we can learn and grow and become curious about why we do things in certain ways with our artwork but we don’t judge them. If the student enjoyed the process or learned something new then it’s a brilliant, successful work of art.
